About Us

Women & Children's Free Restaurant & Community Kitchen is a vital safety net that fills nutritional gaps for women and children in need while fostering dignity and respect, both within our restaurant and in the community

Since the onset of the pandemic WCFR has provided over 2 million meals to Spokane County's most vulnerable citizens. In March 2020, we pivoted our dine-in services to curbside meal and grocery distribution, serving hundreds of Spokane families every week. We also deliver meals to 21 local nonprofit programs in our community. Our partner agencies provide services such as homeless shelters, domestic violence assistance, and child care. These unique collaborations connect our most vulnerable citizens with basic needs and healthy options for improved quality of life.

Safety, dignity, self-sufficiency and mutual respect are key components of our services. We’re committed to helping create a strong and vibrant community and future. Food insecurity is defined as having unreliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. In Spokane County, this problem affects at least 73,000 people – fully 15% of our residents and about 1 in 5 children. During this time of COVID-19, the problem has grown exponentially.

WCFR's services are vital to the Spokane community and we need your support, now more than ever.
